|We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the drivers,
crews, car owners, sponsors, employees, and fans who have supported Madison International
Speedway since we purchased the track. You are what has made this facility one of the top
short track racing venues in America. As we look ahead to 2002 we are very excited
about the special events that have been lined up, but we are even more excited about the
real stars of MIS.
Each Friday night from mid- April to mid-September
Madison International Speedway is home to one of the finest weekly racing programs in the
Come see the stars shine under the lights
on Wisconsin's Fastest Half-Mile. A talented group of drivers take to the paved oval each
week in five divisions.
Highlighting the weekly program is the
super late model division. A quick look at past champions in this division yield names
such as Matt Kenseth, Travis Kvapil, Dick Trickle, Joe Shear and many others. Madison
International Speedway also features our very own Midwest Truck Series. This division has
proven on a weekly basis to be very competitive with close, side by side racing.
The MIS Limited Late Models are a talented
group as well who put on an exciting show each week. Open wheel racing fans will enjoy our
Midwest Modified division. Our Sportsman division has featured many top drivers over the
years that race
hard and put on a great show for the fans. We are extremely proud of all of our weekly
stars and their crews who have committed to run at MIS. Fans will be hard pressed to
find a better quality of race cars and drivers in five divisions at any track in the
country. These are the true stars of MIS.
Many special events are on the schedule for 2002
which complement the weekly racing program. The Twin 75 season opener on April 20-21 has
become an annual tradition at MIS with a new twist. This year's event will be a MARS
racing event as well as an MIS points event. Saturday, April 21 will be an open practice
day from noon until 4:00 with the Twin 75s and support divisions scheduled for the 22nd.
The MARS series will be back on July 2-3 as part of "The Classic."
The format for "The Classic" will
once again feature a three race segment run on July 3rd: Two-75 lap events topped off with
a 50 lap finale. All MIS divisions are scheduled to be in action during "The
Classic." The MIS Labor Day Special is once again scheduled for Monday, September 2
with a Twin 50 format for the super late models highlighting the show.
The American Speed Association (ASA) will visit MIS
on July 27-28. This
is the third year in a row the ASA has made a visit to Madison and based on the crowd
support and the quality of racing this year will be another great show. This event has
drawn over 10,000 to MIS as well as a live national television audience. Excitement
abounds with the live pit stops on our 32 stall pit lane.
The NASCAR RE/Max Challenge Series will also be taking on Wisconsin's Fastest Half-Mile
with an appearance on August 24. This series has made several stops at MIS over the past
few years and features both current and former Friday night stars from MIS. Once again
this event will feature live pit stops, on-track autographs, and much more.
Additional special events are also in the works and fans are encouraged to check out our
2002 schedule link as we will provide you with frequent updates.
Marketing and sponsorship opportunities exist in many forms at MIS for the 2002 racing
season. Seasonal sponsorships are available for each of the five divisions, fast dashes,
"Kids Club," and much more. Special event and nightly sponsorships are also
available. All of these are great opportunities for any business of any size. There is no
secret that racing fans support racing sponsors! Billboards, PA announcements, and much
more can also be arranged for your business.
Businesses and organizations may also take advantage of our VIP Pavillion and group outing
packages. MIS is a great place to bring your employees or treat your customers as parties
can be arranged for any size of group. You will find that a night at the races is
both a rewarding and enjoyable experience for all.
We encourage you to check out our website frequently as drivers, race crews, and fans have
come to depend on the fast results and points standing updates that are available shortly
after the races are completed. A big thank you goes out to Racing Online for their
assistance in making this possible.
We are also working on getting fans more accurate directions to the race track by
providing you with more detailed information at this website. We hope the new directions
and/or links make your trip to MIS easier and more convenient.
Please feel free to email us with your questions or contact the track directly during
